Tom Rowland
President and Founder
With 35 years of experience as a technologist and consultant, Tom sets the strategic vision for Breakaway Technologies, and engages clients on strategic and implementation topics. Prior to founding Breakaway Technologies, he gained a breadth of systems implementation experience across financial, cash management, and anti-submarine warfare systems while at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Brandt, and Unisys respectively. Breakaway Technologies supports clients on their own implementation journeys to enable better business analytics and streamlined business processes, such as Gross-to-Net.
Michael DeFeo
Chief Operating Officer
Mike has over 30 years of experience in developing technology solutions and managing technical organizations. Part of our Breakaway since 1998, he previously worked for the University of Pennsylvania and De La Rue, PLC. His background includes a variety of technical and operational experience across multiple industries. He holds patents in document measurement and pattern recognition using machine learning.
R. Timothy Bonn
Director IBM Services
Tim earned a Ph. D. in the field of Physical Chemistry and has an extensive background in data and analytics. Since joining Breakaway in 2004, Tim has been involved with our IBM practice and works with clients to understand their processes and their data to design and build custom solutions to help them solve real business problems. He has built his reputation on making clients successful in leveraging these new solutions.

Scott has over 30 years’ experience in global enterprise information systems and professional services. As a pioneer in the field of analytics, he has been an influential industry leader in defining best practices around system design, implementation, integration, and staffing. Scott has applied technology solutions for over 50+ companies, ranging from small to mid-business to large scale enterprise organizations. He holds multiple patents for his innovative work in various industries.
Yan Feng
Director of Engineering
Yan Feng is Breakaway’s Director of Engineering and responsible for technical aspects of our product and hosting offerings. With over 15 years of experience building software applications, working with cloud computing technologies, and implementing development disciplines, Yan leads with clear passion and focus on quality. His prior experience as an IBM Software Engineer and as a Senior Consultant with Breakaway provide him with a unique insight into the tools and processes needed to develop and scale modern applications.
